Brandon Davis and Imran Khan, Swan Energy, react to a recent article in the Houston Chronicle reporting the “Energy Apocalypse” in oil and gas.
Sensationalism and speculation from the media is discussed in the interview. Host Jason Spiess asks if the shift from reporting to speculating in the media has changed how people invest in speculative markets like mining.
“I stopped watching TV March 15 and have not watched it since. I quit reading the news about the same time because it was all the same everyday and ridiculous,” Davis said. “It’s horrible how, and it’s beyond the Houston Chronicle article you are referring to, it’s everyone. It’s all the way up or it’s all the way down and there’s no in between and it’s very hard to gauge information.”
Khan agreed with Davis and elaborated to the discuss the theme of “Fun vs. Fact” and the media seems more interested in baiting clicks than fact.
Davis and Khan are diversified with their portfolios, especially in mining and natural resources. They give an update from several different sectors, including putting their gold mine up for sale.
“Right now with what the economy doing what it is doing and the $7-trillion dollars they just printed, my gold mine is for sale because it is prime time,” Davis said.
Davis also believes the recent shut ins are going to have more of an upside than downside.
“The wells being shut in are affecting everyone in the industry, it’s what is helping the price come up which is a good thing for everybody,” Davis said. “For whatever negative it created, I can assure you based on what I’ve watched over the last month with oil prices its definitely have more upside than down overall.”
The interview also discussed whether our current economy is experiencing a similar trend to that of the Microsoft/Apple paradigm shift how speed and information flow became a silent driver.
Identifying opportunity, natural gas and renewable energy is also discussed in the interview.
