Dean Bangsund, NDSU Research Scientist, has been tracking the growth of the Bakken since 2005 and has just released the 7th installment of the Economic Impact Study of Petroleum Sector on North Dakota’s Economy.
This non-political study showed an overview of the industry’s impact for the past decade in areas of job growth, economic impact, government revenues, taxes and secondary workforces.
Bangsund said all trends indicate industry is coming back. Also how technology is impacting and rebounding off the industry’s success.
The infrastructure investment has seen a decline, however, pipelines and gas processing plants remain active within the category of energy infrastructure investment.
Bangsund also discussed how the petroleum industry has changed the workforce and government budgets and projects.
