David Spence, University of Texas at Austin, talks about some issues with the Permian Basin.
He discusses the race to fill jobs, hotels and restaurants and whether it will last or this is another boom before the bust.
Spence adds that this boom has all the earmarks of past oil and gas booms: rapid and drastic increases in salaries and prices in host communities and concerns about the ability of local communities to manage the consequent social and economic disruptions, truck traffic, environmental impacts, etc.
