HOUR ONE PLAY HARD: Jason Spiess and Sterling talk about how a joke played on Jason from a socialist Banker, ended up teaching a lesson in life. Years ago, someone unnamed signed up Jason for Bernie Sanders texts as a joke. Jason, a self-proclaimed Goldwater Republican and Modern Day Leper in politics share the step by step Six Degrees of Bernie to Trump.
“It’s a lesson in life. Someone inserts the Planet of Platitudes into your life and after it all shakes out you end up living in the Realm of Reality.” – Jason Spiess
The upcoming leadership series is discussed once again. The Low Hanging Fruit Leaders are mentioned as an example of one episode. Jason explains how there are leaders who have used the same issues for a decade now in order “solve” a problem, when in reality they continue to perpetuate the problem.
Jason cites Women in Industry as an example. The Energy Secretary is a woman, Jennifer Granholm, the EPA Directory is a woman, Gina McCarthy, oil and gas’ transitional leader is arguably the CEO of Occidental who is a Woman, Vicki Hollub, and AOC/Greta are both the lead antagonist symbols against fossil fuels. Everywhere you currently look the Transitional Leadership is already being lead by women.
Another example of new leadership style is a Modern Day Carpetbagger or Monorail Conductor or Music Man. Every generation has one and for this leadership series it is currently being called Modern Day Carpetbagger.
Jason mentions how he just checked once again this year to see if Make A Wish has come out and publicly shamed oil and gas or endorsed any political candidates trying to end fossil fuels.
On the flip side, the two discuss how non profits like the Humane Society have become quasi-political organizations using a non profit mission. In 2016 the Human Society came out with their first public political statement and endorsement of Hillary Clinton because they considered Donald Trump the worst threat to the planet. In 2020 they endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
The amount of people who came up to the The Crude Life Booth at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference asking when the Leadership Series is coming has Jason wondering if they are throwing him under the bus as motivation. Sterling points out a couple leadership elephants in the room as well.
Jason opines about the slippery slope of “No Mask Mandates” being implemented into franchises and corporations.
The media continues to enable the Line 5 Protest Drums Beating for Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Play Hard Work Hard Morning Show continues to wonder why a pipeline that has shown industrial safety and integrity for 70 years is not the media story.
New EV Taxes proposed in Texas are in the news as well. Should Texas be double taxed and double rebated to force EV behaviors?
U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a Senate Banking Committee member, spoke by phone with Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser this week to discuss the fossil fuel industry’s relationship with the financial sector.
“Mrs. Fraser accepted my invitation to visit North Dakota and meet with our economic leaders, a trip I would be happy to host,” said Senator Cramer. “I am grateful she took the time to discuss American energy and for her agreeing that we cannot just turn our backs on producers of reliable energy like coal, oil, nuclear, and natural gas.”
Their conversation follows similar meetings Senator Cramer has hosted with JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, and Wells Fargo President and CEO Charlie Scharf this month.
In HOUR TWO we WORK HARD with our Newsmaker Interview: Kevin Black, CEO, Creedence Energy Services, Eric P., Marty Shumway, Locus Bio Energy are interviewed by Shawn Forbes, OG Directory and Jason Spiess, The Crude Life
Black gives thanks to the North Dakota Petroleum Council for the opportunity on stage and also for bringing the industry together when everyone needed the human element in business right now.
Black talks about the results of Enhanced Oil Recovery in the Bakken. Trial wells in 2009. Currently Creedence Energy Services works for 19 of the top 20 producers in the Bakken.
He said they’ve been targeting below 100 barrels a day, but are seeing more options everyday. Black gives an update on new trial wells near Parshall, ND, too. Black is seeing 2x ROI already.
Shumway talks about how Locus BE’s biosurfactant technology has already been successfully used to replace and outperform synthetic chemicals, enhance oil recovery, extend well lifespans and minimize new drilling across top U.S. oil and gas producing basins, including the Permian, Appalachian and Eagle Ford.
Based on proven results, a multitude of industry experts have confirmed the effectiveness of this renewable and sustainable technology.
Through the OGRP grant, Creedence will trial the novel biosurfactants in both legacy conventional and Bakken/Three Forks nonconventional wells in North Dakota.
Established in 2003, the OGRP encourages use of environmentally sound exploration and production methods and technologies. The program is funded from the state’s share of the oil and gas production tax and oil extraction tax, with up to $10 million dollars available each biennium. The NDIC has agreed to use a portion of the program’s funds to subsidize costs of the Locus BE/Creedence well stimulation trials, which will span over 18 months. The treatments are anticipated to successfully recover oil from current production assets left behind by previous technologies—enhancing oil production and subsequent tax revenues for North Dakota.
Jason Spiess has to hand off the interview to Shawn Forbes halfway through as he has to attend a potential television show involving The Crude Life. Before Spiess leaves, he presents Shumway and Black with a copy of Erik Hatch‘s book.
