HOUR ONE PLAY HARD: Jason Spiess and Sterling recap and round up the last couple of weeks with trade shows, conferences and BBQs.
Sterling shares a couple stories from his Tree Planting Training that Jason sent him on. He also shares a story from his childhood living on an oil and gas crew camp with a border fence, golf courses and grocery stores in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
AramcoBrats are the folks who were born, raised, educated, or lived in Saudi Arabia as children and/or minor dependents of employees of the Arabian American Oil Company (a.k.a ARAMCO, Saudi Aramco and Saudi Arabian Oil Company) or any ARAMCO-affiliated company.
They are “Third Culture Kids“, spanning several generations but bound by our common experiences growing up in a unique, international community.
Couple items to note during the Event Round Up & Recap.
- The AramcoBrats Reunion in Tuscon, AZ over Labor Day Weekend still is requiring masks for attendees.
- The Crude Life has added a major event in the Permian Basin this fall. When Jason booked his room last month he found something under $200, now when he looked Sunday night, the same hotel was $450/night. This hotel chain and name will be a new experience for Jason as he has never heard of it.
- A few minor updates from the Live and Local Recording Session at Sturgis
- The Bakken BBQ was organized chaos and a shit-show of perfection. Everything that went wrong went right. Everyone who attended was in such a good mood and the food was flowing, so in the end, everything was perfect.
- The ATM ran out of cash at the Bakken BBQ, Jason forgot a knife, some behind the emcee duties and the DAPL BBQ ESG Certified Smoked Potatoes of Inclusion were a HUGE hit with children and women ages 16-30.
- A Wish was granted on stage to a child who wished for her own play house. A general contractor and master electrician presented the industrial power and community energy to build her a custom play house and make her wish come true.
In the News, Rumors and Newsspeak Segment, Jason wonders if there was a Climate Activist Coup in the ExxonMobil Boardrooms.
Fake ESG programs are on the rise and Jason explains why the Bakken BBQ was ESG. He also opines a few reasons why there will be resistance with the emerging ESG movement.
They also talk about how COVID sped up the final stages of the Big Crew Shift and if companies are going to keep the same people in power, many will leave the industry sooner rather than later.
The two discuss the rising marketplace for human decency. After traveling over 5000 miles the past two months, Jason and Sterling discuss how more and more people are becoming vocal against people abusing power, male chauvinism still ruling the office and entitlements are the new norm for a certain class within industry.
In HOUR TWO we WORK HARD with our Newsmaker Interview: Texas Railroad Commissioner Jim Wright
In the second half of the Play Hard segment, Texas Railroad Commissioner Jim Wright stops by the impromptu Permian Basin Association of Pipeliners mobile studios to give an update from the state regulator’s offices.
RCC Wright cites several pieces of legistlation that could impact the oil and gas industry.
Renewables, ESG and Climate Taxes are also discussed in the exclusive interview.
RCC Wright concludes the interview with a very passionate tip on award winning BBQ.
