Energy Expert and Consultant Mark Stansberry joins Jason Spiess at the 24th Annual Oklahoma Oil and Gas Expo in Oklahoma City, OK.
Stansberry recapped the themes behind a recent speech he gave at the National Association of Royalty Owners including natural gas, the digital transformation and others.
He also talks about an upcoming docufilm called Sherwood on the oil and gas industry. Stansberry has teamed up with some veterans in the entertainment industry, like Grey Fredrickson, to produce the film.
Frederickson is best known for being a long-time producer for Francis Ford Coppola and winning an Oscar as one of the co-producers of The Godfather Part II at the 47th Academy Awards. In addition he was also nominated for Apocalypse Now.
The docufilm will start the story in the summer of 1942, the future of Great Britain and the outcome of World War II depended on petroleum supplies. At the end of that year, demand for 100-octane fuel would grow to more than 150,000 barrels of oil every day and German U-boats ruled the Atlantic.
In August 1942, British Secretary of Petroleum, Geoffrey Lloyd called an emergency meeting of the Oil Control Board to assess the “impending crisis in oil.”
Thus began the story of the “little-known, or at least seldom recognized, all-important role oil and oilmen played in the prosecution of the war,” according to two historians who extensively researched archives in Great Britain and the United States.
The short story is they drilled in Sherwood Forest. The longer story will be out next Spring.
Stansberry and Spiess also discuss the realities of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) in today’s marketplace.
Both Stansberry and Spiess agree that the ESG Economy is already here and there’s a short window to grab ahold of the narrative before industry becomes reactive.
Spiess opines that right now the ESG Economy is on the 1 yard line with 99 yards to go. Except it’s only in the first quarter and the referees have yet to announce the rules or bring the ball out to the field, but, the game has already started because companies, countries and economies are already being impacted.
The interview also dives into what energy companies should be looking at for next year. Robotics, artificial intelligence and regulations are just a few of the topics of conversation in the exclusive interview from Oklahoma.
The OK Oil & Gas EXPO the largest event of its kind in Oklahoma and is the only one organized and hosted by local industry volunteers. More than 3,800 attendees gathered at the Expo to network, learn and make connections.
