Bismarck Mayor Steve Bakken gives an update from the state capital as well as his view on President Joe Biden’s executive orders, including his decision to halt the Keystone XL Pipeline.
Mayor Bakken explain that pipeline are considered “critical infrastructure” and should be treated as such by the government rather than using pipelines for political posturing.
He also expresses his concern over the potential loss of jobs and safety issues in the state. Adding trucks on the road and rail cars on the tracks ripples into other costs and issues that are being ignored or suppressed in public discussion.
Mayor Bakken explains how NIMBY, Not In My Back Yard, is driving much of the climate change discussion and disconnection with oil and gas.
