Darren Gollehon, Petroleum Consultants, gives an update on some of the oil and gas activity in Montana, which is primarily seen on the eastern side of the state. Gollehon gives an overview of a few projects they are working on in the North Dakota and Wyoming. He also talk about exploration into the Permian and Eagle Ford.

David Spence, University of Texas at Austin, talks about some issues with the Permian Basin. He discusses the race to fill jobs, hotels and restaurants and whether it will last or this is another boom before the bust. Spence adds that this boom has all the earmarks of past oil and gas booms: rapid and drastic increases in salaries and prices in host communities and concerns about the ability of local communities to manage the consequent social and economic disruptions, truck traffic, environmental impacts, etc.

Jared Wipf, district manager, BOS Solutions, talks about the technology behind their liquids and solids separators. He also explains why they currently have about 30% of the Bakken’s market share. He also explains why water innovation is extremely important in the Bakken and today’s shale plays.
