Taylor Sheridan ,the prolific producer is busy with an oil and gas series, for Paramount. Landman, Sheridan’s newest series, recently began production in Fort Worth, Texas. As the cameras start rolling, we’re learning more an d more about the cast. Billy Bob Thornton will headline the series alongside Demi Moore and Jon Hamm, the most recent additions to the already stellar lineup.
Here’s what we know so far about the Landman cast, release date, plot and more.
What is Landman about?
Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast “Boomtown,” the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.
Landman is co-created by Oscar nominated multi-hyphenate Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace.
As is the case with just about every Taylor Sheridan series, the Landman cast is star-studded. Here’s who we know so far will be joining Sheridan’s newest Paramount series.
Billy Bob Thornton (Tommy Norris)
Critically acclaimed actor and breakout star of the 1996 movie Sling Blade, Billy Bob Thornton will lead the new series as a crisis manager for an oil company.
Ali Larter (Angela Norris)
Ali Larter has been cast as Angela, the ex-wife of Billy Bob Thornton’s character, Tommy. Larter is best known for her television roles on Heroes and The Rookie and in films like Varsity Blues and Legally Blonde.
Demi Moore (Cami)
NEWLY ANNOUNCED: Demi Moore joins the cast as Cami, the wife of a powerful oil baron who is friends with Tommy Norris.
Jon Hamm (Monty Miller)
NEWLY ANNOUNCED: Hamm joins the cast as Monty, a Texas oil titan who has a long history, both personal and professional, with Tommy Norris.
Michelle Randolph (Ainsley Norris)
Michelle Randolph will play the wild and strong-willed seventeen year old daughter of Tommy Norris.
Jacob Lofland (Cooper Norris)
Jacob Lofland takes on the role of Cooper, Tommy’s son, who is new to the demanding work in the oil and gas fields of West Texas.
Kayla Wallace (Rebecca Savage)
Kayla Wallace is a series regular on When Calls the Heart, Hallmark Channel’s longest-running series. She has appeared on The Good Doctor, The Magicians and Zooey’s Extraordinary Playlist.
In Landman, Rebecca portrays an extremely capable and intimidating liability attorney sent to West Texas to clean up a mess.
James Jordan (Date Bradley)
James Jordan joins the cast as Date Bradley, a petroleum engineer and a blue-collar bear of a man who manages and works with roughnecks in the oil fields. He’s also Tommy Norris’ roommate.
Jordan is a mainstay in Sheridan’s productions, having appeared in Yellowstone, 1823, and Mayor of Kingstown.
Mark Collie (Sheriff Joeberg)
Perhaps better known as a singer-songwriter, Mark Collie has been slowing building an acting resume too. He will play Joeberg, a West Texas sheriff.
Paulina Chavez (Ariana)
Young actress Paulina Chavez has starred in a couple of Netflix productions (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia and Fate: The Winx Saga) and has been announced as Mia Garcia in the Disney+ reboot of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
In Landman, Chavez portrays Ariana, a young mother whose family suffered an extreme tragedy.
When did Landman begin production?
Production is underway! Principal photography commenced on Landman at the beginning of February 2024.
Where is Landman filmed?
Landman films in and around the Fort Worth, Texas area.
When does Landman premiere?
An official premiere date has yet to be announced but check back here for updates!
What channel is Landman on?
Although no premiere date has been released, Landman will stream on Paramount+ as part of Taylor Sheridan’s $200 million production deal.
