“I started this on Dec 16, I’ll take it all the way to January 1, 2023 at noon,” Lindquist said. “This is done in solidarity with my brothers in Donbas and my friends in Bakhmut who are cold and wet and in the trenches for months on end. I wanted to bring an energy awareness to this and that there are many ways to help the Ukrainians especially in the winter.”
Lindquist has been fundraising for those impacted by war in the Ukraine, receiving winter clothing, financial contributions and any other help people can give.
“The need is great. The Donbas is the same latitude as International Falls, Minnesota,” Lindquist said. “There is no power. Men are living in wet trenches. Children are sleeping in underground bunkers in Bakhmut. The world has enough supplies, it is simply sitting in the wrong spot on earth.”
Lindquist continued saying that our western volunteers and local Ukrainians have run out of donations and money because Ukraine is “old news”.
“We collect mini-grants of $5,000 and send a pallet over directly to our local and trusted contacts in Ukraine,” Lindquist said. “You can follow our social media and telegram channels to see the confirmation of donation delivery in Ukraine. Our partner NGOs have already sent over 400 pallets of humanitarian aid into the country and our team has been responsible for moving another $2 million worth of aid in country.”
After giving the details of the fundraiser, Lindquist gives an update from the past several months he spent in the Ukraine.
“Jason, our here in the Ukraine, we call this the first Instagram War,” Lindquist said. “This war is being fought on social media.”
Lindquist continues sharing several examples of why they are calling this the Instagram War, including soldiers wearing GoPros and body cams. The two discuss how the citizens are getting involved in social media too.
“The people of the Ukraine are so much more technologically accepting than the United States,” Lindquist said.
