In this installment of a Decade of Discussion is from 2017, the featured guest is professional wrestler and plant-based speaker Austin Aries.
Recognized for his in-ring and his verbal skills on the mic, Austin Aries’ impressive resume includes multiple championship titles, most notably in Ring of Honor Wrestling (First 2x World Champion, World Tag-Team) and TNA (World Heavyweight, World Tag-Team, and 6-time X Division Champion).
In early 2016, Aries signed with World Wrestling Entertainment and quickly established himself, both as a wrestler and color commentator, appearing weekly on RAW and competing at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, FL. In July of 2017, Aries and WWE mutually agreed to part ways, allowing Austin to focus on another of his passion: His plant-based lifestyle advocacy.
Becoming a vegetarian in 2000, and converting to a completely vegan diet in 2012, Aries is an outspoken advocate and ambassador of a plant-based lifestyle. His new book, Food Fight, is a revealing memoir that chronicles his rise in the wrestling ranks, all while detailing his evolution to plant-based lifestyle. By using his platform he hopes to encourage change in the way we think about our food, our health and our lives.
In his revealing new memoir, FOOD FIGHT: My Plant Powered Journey from the Bingo Halls to the Big Time, Aries recounts his all-American Midwest upbringing, his less-than-legal post-college career choices, the life-changing moment when he began his wrestling training, and the adventures he encountered over his decade-long rise through the ranks of the indie wrestling world.
Along the way, Aries also details his ongoing food education and the personal awakening that gradually led him to swear off eating any and all animal products.
Aries has been a professional wrestler for more than a decade. Known as “The Greatest Man That Ever Lived,” over the course of his career
on the independent scene Aries won multiple championships, most notably in TNA (World Heavyweight, World Tag Team, and 6-time X Division Champion) and Ring of Honor (twice).
In early 2016, he signed with WWE as part of the NXT brand. Aries has been a vegetarian for over a decade and a vegan since 2011. In
addition to fitness and nutrition, his passions include music and all major sports.
In this exclusive interview, Aries describes how he is getting ready for the independent scene in professional wrestling. His book, t-shirts and other merchandise potentials open up a number of revenue streams.
Aries is a professional speaker at events in addition to his professional wrestling gigs.

Heins is also a vocal advocate of the Internet of Everything, free trade, and global issues affecting the third of our planet that still lives in abject poverty.
Heins is troubled by the Carbon Tax, Cap & Trade, Carbon Offsets and Carbon Credits, because he questions their efficacy in solving the climate problem, are too gamable by rent seekers, and are fraught with unreliable accounting.
Heins worries that climate and other environmental reporting in the US and Europe has become too politicized, ignores the essential role carbon-based energy continues to play in the lives of billions, demonizes the promise and practicality of Nuclear Energy and cheerleads for renewable energy sources that cannot solve the real world problems of scarcity and poverty.
