Kenley Nebeker, executive director, TrainND NorthWest and president of the TrainND Foundation, joins Jason Spiess to discuss whether Williston has made enough investments into the present to turn a “potential” into a “reality”.
The two discuss the UAS industry and how it could become a Hub due to it’s geography and energy potentials. Spiess worries that the infrastructure and core is being constructed on the east side of the state and the western side will become a Satellite rather than Hub.
“There’s over a 30-year history of elected and appointed leaders talking about the Western side of the state, but funneling money to the East for flood projects, strip malls and construction projects,” Spiess said.
Nebeker said it is important to keep resources heading East, but agrees there needs to be more attention paid to the Western side as it continues to grow.
“There is an energy out here that you can feel,” Nebeker said. “It’s ready to take off to that next level in community growth.”
The two also discussed how the Skills and Training Center in Watford City will play into the next chapter in North Dakota and the Bakken.
