Jason Spiess interviews Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon talk about how the state of Wyoming can help global energy crisis and ease some of the issues from the Russia/Ukraine conflict.

“The point shouldn’t be lost on anyone right now that here in this country we do a better job, safer job and a more environmental job of producing oil and gas than anywhere else in the world and that’s the irony when the world is needing oil to be able to keep Europe going to be able to fight off this Russian invasion we are seeing in the Ukraine that this administration is out asking adversaries, places like Venezuela for good heavens,” Gordon said. “That’s one of the toughest places to produce and they do not have a very good environmental record.”

Gordon explains how the oil and gas industry has been growing over the past decade, with a couple dips, and is looking very promising for many companies. He also comments on the realities of coal.

“One of the most prevalent sources of energy is coal and we can burn that in a better way and more a technological efficient way,” Gordon said. “Wyoming has done a lot with Carbon Capture and Sequestration and we continue to work on that.”

The Governor discussed Uranium, which Wyoming is one of the largest producers in the nation, and how the state needs to get it back up and running, especially in light of the recent world and geopolitical events.

“Finally America is coming to grips with the fact that we’ve surrendered a lot of our own development of these minerals to countries like China for their rare earth and critical minerals and Russia,” Gordon said. “In Wyoming here we just passed a budget and part of that is going to be is looking at what opportunities we can see for critical minerals, rare earth minerals, which would include more uranium, and that would really allow us to build up more rare earth and critical mining in the state.”

The Crude Life Content News Correspondent Ken Lavin interviews North Dakota Commerce Commissioner James Leiman about how the state of North Dakota and the Bakken can help global energy crisis and ease some of the issues from the Russia/Ukraine conflict.

“The state can help by putting more oil and gas online into supply chains,” Leiman said. “So when you think about the pressures the Russians are currently manifesting in Western Europe and the constant back and forth of whether we are going to shut off your oil and gas.”

Other states like Wyoming and Texas have also stepped up to the global podium in anticipation of sending resources overseas to America’s allies during this global crisis.  Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon recently spoke with Jason Spiess about how their state can assist overseas and the logistical infrastructure in West Texas (Odessa Mayor Javier Joven and Midland Mayor Patrick Payton) is being built to produce next level energy.

“North Dakota, West Texas, Oklahoma, all those places, Wyoming too, all those can put more energy capacity online right now,” Leiman said.

Spiess interviews Oscar Award winning director Gray Frederickson about his upcoming docufilm on Sherwood Forest involving a group of Oklahoma oil workers who drilled in the famous Sherwood Forest to help allies during WWII.

Frederickson is best known for being a long-time producer for Francis Ford Coppola and winning an Oscar as one of the co-producers of The Godfather Part II at the 47th Academy Awards. In addition he was also nominated for Apocalypse Now.

Spiess interviews Odessa Mayor Javier Joven about their investments into the Permian Basin to continue the growth and how they can help global energy crisis and ease some of the issues from the Russia/Ukraine conflict.

The mayor attended at special ceremony for DistributionNOW, who had a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration at their new facility in Odessa, Texas. The event was well attended with local community members, professional colleagues and special guest dignitaries like Mayor Hoven and also the neighboring city Midland (TX) Mayor Patrick Payton.

“You see the creativity of how you have to survive,” Mayor Joven said. “This regional DistributionNOW warehouse will be the nerve center for the entire Permian basin into New Mexico to resupply the satellite service companies from valves to fittings and other equipment from the oilfield.”

DistributionNOW operates primarily under the DistributionNOW and DNOW brands. Through its network of approximately 195 locations and 2,600 employees worldwide, NOW Inc. offers a comprehensive line of products and solutions for the upstream, midstream and downstream energy and industrial sectors. Its locations provide products and solutions to exploration and production companies, energy transportation companies, refineries, chemical companies, utilities, manufacturers and engineering and construction companies.

Mayor Joven was very excited about the commitment from DNOW, as well as their innovative remodeling capabilities.

“Basically DNOW has retooled the Halliburton facilities back into a regional distribution center,” Joven said. “You know the old industry is retooling itself since we’ve had the downtown and the nature of issues like inflation.”

Not only are investments coming to the Permian Basin domestically, but according to Mayor Joven, there are international interests and investments as well.

“We’ve been contacted by a couple groups based in Mexico who represent a dozen companies each, so 24 or more companies are looking at Odessa right now for international expansion,” Mayor Joven said. “So we do have professional businesses who want to come in and build multi-family apartments downtown. We also have another group interested too. We will be having more announcements coming over the next two weeks.”
