Move over Survivor and Amazing Race, the Texas Railroad Commission election has become one of the most interesting reality shows in the nation. This year’s race has almost everything. It’s got an incumbent fighting to keep his spot, a newcomer endorsed by the state’s largest newspaper and an upstart female lawyer who took her top off to clean up the ethics in energy. Plus one of the industry’s most beloved advocates was killed campaigning in the Permian basin.

There are a couple other interesting validations from the Texas RRC Election. The first is that the Internet is a regular part of an American life. This isn’t huge news, but after the COVID Shutdowns, it became the new norm in almost everything, including Happy Hours.
The second is the validation that social media has surpassed traditional media is distribution to the masses. The traditional media still are the creators of original news content, however, news has changed and so have people’s consuming habits.
Sarah Stogner joins Jason Spiess to talk about her vehicle being broken into in Midland, Texas. The only thing that was stolen was her laptop and hard drive. The thief or thieves left behind cash, a gun and other valuables. When Sarah reported it to the local police, they brushed it off as random crimes citing “there’s been a rash of breakins”.
The two discuss what they could have been looking for in regards to the files and information. Sarah was recently in the news for her “racy” and “artistic” political ad designed to generate interest in early voting. She has also created a large following on social media due to her guerilla marketing with videos and the political campaign. Plus she was mentioned in a major Texas Newspaper political cartoon. So there are many speculations to what they could have been looking for on her laptop and hard drive.
Spiess challenges that notion and training by the police and discusses the realities of Sarah’s safety and future in the political race. Since then, Sarah has added a driver that offers some basic safety in numbers and extra set of eyeballs at events.
Sarah is not accepting donation to her campaign, however is directing people to her campaign website for more information. Click here for her website
