NAPE Summit returns Feb. 8-11 to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. Following a hybrid show in 2021, the 2022 NAPE Summit will be an in-person experience welcoming hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of attendees back to the action-packed expo floor.
The week kicks off Tuesday, Feb. 8, with valuable education opportunities provided by several NAPE partner organizations and industry associations, including the American Association of Professional Landmen, Independent Petroleum Association of America, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (formerly RMMLF).
At the NAPE Global Business Conference on Wednesday, Feb. 9, industry experts will explore the most pressing energy topics and share their exclusive insight to prepare energy professionals for 2022. Keynote speakers Gordon Pennoyer, managing partner at DrivePath Advisors, and Mike Wichterich, chairman of the Chesapeake board of directors, will discuss what private equity and public companies can learn from each other in their “PE vs. Public Mindset, Bridging the Great Divide” presentation.
Other presentations include:
- “The Future of the Power Grid” presented by Max Minzer, managing partner at DrivePath Advisors
- “Positioning the E&P Industry for Energy Transition Participation” presented by Robin Fielder, executive vice president and chief sustainability officer at Talos Energy
- “ESG — Past the Talk and Into the Implementation” panel discussion moderated by Jim Wicklund, managing director at Stephens Inc.; with panelists Barbara Baumann, president of Cross Creek Energy Corp.; Jason Isaac, director of Life: Powered; and David de Roode, executive vice president and Lockton partner at Lockton Companies
- “Oil & Gas Outlook” presented by Marshall Adkins, head of energy at Raymond Jones
- “Global Oil and Gas Demand and the State of the Economy” panel discussion moderated by Sarah McLean, partner at Shearman & Sterling LLP; with panelists Allen Gilmer, founder and former CEO/chairman of Enverus; Dan Pickering, CIO of Pickering Energy Partners; and Bill Marko, managing director at Jefferies LLC
For those seeking professional opportunities, the NAPE Job Fair connecting prospective employers and employees is Wednesday afternoon, and the day concludes with the popular Icebreaker networking event.
The expo floor opens Thursday morning with companies from across the United States and the world filling the GRB Convention Center — offering ample opportunity for energy professionals to find their next deal. Additionally, Prospect Previews will be held for both oil and gas and renewable energy prospects. During these theaters, exhibiting companies present 8-minute show-and-tell previews of energy producing prospects available on the show floor.
For the second year, the Renewable Energy Pavilion — sponsored by the American Association of Professional Landmen and Marathon Capital — welcomes dealmakers interested in finding opportunities in solar, wind, blockchain technology and other renewables. The return of the REP demonstrates NAPE’s commitment to bring professionals from all energy sources together to do business, making NAPE Summit the premier expo for all dealmakers.
Also on Thursday, the NAPE/TCU Energy Innovation Case Competition returns with MBA students from four of the nation’s top business schools competing for $40,000 in cash prizes. Four-person student teams will analyze how to balance demand for the energy transition with capital controls on oil and gas and present their innovative solutions before a panel of judges made up of leaders from industry and academia. The competition is sponsored by the AAPL Educational Foundation.
Honoring our nation’s heroes, the 2022 NAPE Summit Charities Luncheon hosts former Secretary of State and CIA Director Mike Pompeo. Since 2009, the NAPE Charities Luncheon has raised more than $4.75 million to assist nonprofits that support U.S. veterans.
Later in the afternoon, Michol Ecklund, senior vice president and general counsel of Callon Petroleum Co., moderates Connections & Conversations with panelists Janet Clark, board member of EOG Resources; Nooshin Behroyan, founder and CEO of Paxon Energy; and Whitney Wickes, COO and co-founder of Rocking WW Minerals.
Exhibits continue Friday, along with the Government Affairs Session featuring Texas Railroad Commissioner Jim Wright. NAPE concludes that afternoon with a Summit Sweepstakes Drawing for the winner’s choice of a Slingshot S or Sea Doo Switch — must be present to win!
