Year In Review 2020: How Industry Builds Community and Hope Within

It’s time once again for our Annual Year In Review interviews! Last January 2020, Sally Hallingstad, Oilfield Helping Hands talks about why she is attracted to the way industry is a leader in community building.

“Full disclosure, when I answered the ad I didn’t think of it as part of the energy industry. Right, so once I got into it, it was fascinating to me. One I knew nothing and I still, you know, seven years later I feel like I don’t know much. But I think the beauty of it is not only are people willing to help each other when they’re down, but when people come into the industry, I no shame in asking questions. I never felt like I was asking a dumb question even if it was a dumb question nobody made me feel like it was. And I think that is a true testament to an industry that really wants to help people become a part of it and grow within it…”

The Ag/Energy relationship and perception is also discussed. Hallingstad grew up in an agricultural and oil-less part of the country. She explains how her energy perception evolved through life and career experiences.
